Fire Island Beach House

An up-and-coming hotelier group approached BDD to transform the old Fire Island Hotel into a clean, minimal, trend driven destination with a retro modern beach vibe. To make best use of the space, we designed built-in cabinetry in white washed wood and leather handles, and custom commissioned live-edge wood furniture in the bedrooms, lobby and public spaces. The white shiplap covering the walls adds that natural country feel and texture, while the bedrooms are highlighted by a custom beach floral wallcovering. The bathrooms are retro-modern with the use of black and white penny tile, edge-lit mirrors, white lacquer vanities alongside glass shower enclosures framed in black metal. Each room is complete with daybeds, colorful pillows and throws. The façade of each building was re-clad in white vertical planking, black roofing, and new lighting throughout the property.
